The slight visual compression of the focal length is complemented by the depth of field control afforded by the f/1.8 maximum aperture, and the lens's manual focus design permits working with subjects as close as 3' away. Also, a 10-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth bokeh quality for more aesthetic out-of-focus backgrounds.
